Rice Krispie treats are an OG stoner snack, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to get creative with baking them. Not everyone may be the biggest Rice Krispie fan, but it’s an easy-to-make baked good that can be completely customizable and equally delicious!

Our team of budtenders at Hennep is all about finding new and unique ways to cook or bake with cannabis in the kitchen. When we saw this TikTok recipe going viral, our Cape Cod dispensary knew we had to try out a THC-infused dupe.

Let’s Get Creative in the Kitchen

You can use your favorite cereal, get creative with baking edibles and use different chocolates or flavors as mix-ins, or go wild and use some crushed potato chips instead. Either way, there’s no wrong way to do it – these treats hit a little better after doing a doinker.

How to Make Infused Cannabis Butter

If you’ve never made butter infused with cannabis before, it’s super easy – and will become a new secret ingredient to enhance your favorite recipe! All you’ll need is a stick of butter and about a couple of grams of flower from our dispensary in Provincetown.

Follow these simple instructions for making cannabis butter at home:

  • To start, preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C) and grind up your estimated dose of cannabis flower.
  • Spread the ground cannabis on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 40-60 minutes, stirring occasionally for even decarboxylation. This heat activates the cannabinoids in the cannabis so compounds like THC can give off that ‘high effect,’ when consumed.
  • Next, melt one cup of butter in a saucepan over low heat, and add the decarboxylated cannabis to it. Simmer the mixture on low heat for 2-3 hours, but be sure the melted butter doesn’t boil.
  • The butter will take on a greenish hue as cannabinoids infuse. When complete, strain the mixture through a fine mesh or cheesecloth, squeezing out any remaining liquid.
  • Allow the infused butter to cool until in a more solidified form. Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, cannabutter can be used in a variety of recipes, offering a controlled and enjoyable way to incorporate cannabis into your culinary creations.

If you are using infused butter for this recipe, we recommend melting down equal parts regular and infused butter in a large pot to balance out the weed taste.

If you don’t have any butter handy, you can always just melt down a THC-infused chocolate bar from our Provincetown dispensary and drizzle it over the top at the very end. You can even try sprinkling some flaky sea salt on top for an extra kick, especially if you use buttered popcorn for this recipe.

How to Make the Best Cannabis-Infused Rice Krispies

Cook Time: 5 Mins

Cool Time 30 Mins

Ingredients:

  • ½ bag marshmallows
  • ¼ cup (4 tablespoons) of your cannabis-infused butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3-4 cups popped popcorn (plain, buttered, or caramel)
  • optional: any desired mix-ins or toppings (nuts, chocolate, sprinkles)

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large pot over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. It can also be done in a microwave in 30-second increments.
  3. Once thoroughly melted, remove from heat and add in vanilla. Stir until combined.
  4. Stir in popcorn and any desired mix-ins to the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Pour onto the lined tray and spread out evenly. It’s best to use a little butter or pan spray on cleaned (or even gloved) hands to prevent sticking and make the mix easier to work with. Add any desired toppings.
  6. Let cool at room temperature until ready to cut. Store in an airtight container.
